OUR BACKGROUND
COLLETTE DAVIES
“I began working in the disability sector in 1999 as a volunteer in the dementia ward of a Bendigo aged care facility. I was immediately attracted to the complexities of the human brain. I followed this interest through my schooling and ended up studying Public health at Bendigo La Trobe. I began my Disability career in 2001 in regional Victoria, most of my time was spent on camps, social outings and group activities, before I moved on to one on one care. Through my training I found that England had the most updated procedures and training, at the time. I moved across the world to London to work and learn for 2 years. I worked with terminally ill children, families with a low socio-economic status and refugee families. Throughout my entire career I have continued to expand my knowledge in the field by researching and training in the most current disability education.
Working in regional Victoria, London and Melbourne has given me the opportunity to experience a range of services and developmental approaches, as well as working with a vast array of individual abilities. Addition Needs Education was founded through a need for a more wholistic approach towards the families and a focus on the individuals’ goals and aspirations. I have close relationships with our participants and strive to provide the opportunity for a fulfilling lifestyle.”
